Michael Jordan refuses to sell his 'cursed' mansion in Illinois

Former basketball player Michael Jordan, 61 years old and considered one of the best of all time, has been the talk of the town in recent years due to his ownership of the property. Highland Park, Illinoiswhich has been trying to sell it for 12 years, but has not yet found anyone interested in acquiring it.

Despite the lack of potential buyers, the former Chicago Bulls player would not be willing to give in and lower the price of his property, which he initially advertised for $29 million dollars and now it is already in $15 million dollarsbut even then he hasn’t received any offers.

According to The Wall Street Journal, which broke the news, the reasons why the iconic building has not found anyone interested in acquiring it are not only related to its price, but also to all the history it carries with it.

“Ever since Jordan’s estate north of Chicago first listed for $29 million in 2012 and then dropped to around $15 million, it hasn’t sold on the market. That’s led some prospective buyers, brokers and experts to ponder: Could Michael Jordan’s abode be too Michael Jordan for ordinary mortals?” The Wall Street Journal asked.

Despite these theories, there are also others that claim that for that price, potential buyers could buy a house with a view of the lake, but would be sacrificing the privacy that Jordan’s current home offers.

“Most people spending that kind of money in the Chicago area want to live on the lake. They chose not to live on the lake because they wanted privacy,” said Katherine Malkin of Compass.

The property, which dates back to 1995, has 56,000 square feetwith nine bedrooms and 15 full bathrooms.

It also has a lobby, kitchen, dining room, living room, main room, TV room, movie room, poker room, wine cellar, garage for 14 vehicles, personalized basketball court, among other amenities.

The custom-designed property also includes a fitness center, a circular infinity pool, a putting green, a tennis court and a cigar room, among other spaces.
