Harris and Trump meet again at tribute to victims of 9/11 terrorist attacks

Vice President and Democratic candidate for the November elections, Kamala Harris, and former President and current Republican candidate, Donald Trump, met again this Wednesday with a new handshake included, hours after holding an intense televised debate in their race for the White House.

Both politicians met this morning at the so-called ‘ground zero’ of the World Trade Center (New York) on the occasion of the commemoration of the 23rd anniversary of 9/11, the terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 3,000 people in total and is to date the most serious recorded in the history of the United States.

Dressed in a dark suit with the usual blue bow on the lapel of the jacket in solidarity with the victims and their families, Harris arrived at the event just behind US President Joe Bidenand was very smiling and friendly as he greeted Senate Majority Leader and New York Senior Senator Chuck Schumer.

Trump was accompanied by his hypothetical vice president, if he were to return to the Oval Office, JD Vance; both dressed in navy blue suits and red ties, plus their respective blue bows.

Harris and Trump shook hands fraternally and had a brief conversation.n, lasting just a few seconds, in which they could be seen in a cordial tone that ended with a “thank you” from the Republican politician.

This is the second time they have had direct contact throughout their long careers and it happened just hours after last night’s debate, when it was the first time they had engaged in a dialectical exchange.

They then proceeded to take an official photo in which Biden himself, Schumer and the former mayor of New York from 2002 to 2013, Michael Bloomberg, also appeared.

Moments before attending the tribute to the victims of 9/11, Trump appeared on the talk show Fox & Friendsfrom the Fox network, to give his view on how the debate between the presidential candidates developed last night on ABC News.

Asked whether he would address Biden or Harris at the event, he said he did not know and proceeded to launch into his usual tirade of attacks on Democrats over issues such as an alleged opening of borders that led to, according to him, the “arrival of criminals from all over the world.”

As for 9/11, about which he even spread theories bordering on conspiracy back in 2001, when he was not yet involved in politics, he said: “It was a very, very sad, horrible, horrible day. There has never been anything like it, a horrible day.”

Every September 11, the two moats that replace the Twin Towersand on which the names of those killed in the attack are inscribed, are filled with American flags and roses, in sober acts that last several hours.

The event includes a military parade, the attendance and speech of hundreds of relatives with photographs to remember the loved ones they lost in the attack, the reading of the names of each of the deceased, and several minutes of silence.

During the first thirty minutes of this solemn tribute, Harris showed a serious expression and, at times, looked at the ground, while Trump maintained an upright position facing forward..

Although the main tribute is being held in New York, there are also events at the Pentagon and in Shaksville (Pennsylvania), where two other planes crashed on that tragic day.
