The state of Tamaulipas is one of the red zones in northern Mexico, since it is a border area with the United States, it is a region disputed by various organized crime groups such as Gulf Cartel and the Northeast Cartel.

This situation has made it difficult for state authorities to recruit new agents to their ranks, opting for other measures such as looking for future police officers in other parts of the country.

He admitted it like this Sergio Hernando Chavez GarciaSecretary of Public Security of Tamaulipas, pointing out that, due to the risk conditions that prevail in some municipalities, there is little interest in becoming part of the elements of the State Guard (GE).

The official explained that recruiting committees have been created in places such as Chiapas, Oaxaca, State of Mexico, San Luis Potosí, Mexico City and Veracruz to offer employment, even if only for a short time.

However, when recruits from other entities travel to Tamaulipas to pass the exams, unfortunately Many of them do not acclimatize or adapt to the northern lifestyle.and they return again to their places of origin, he commented.

Chávez García indicated that, despite having recruited 1,200 officers during the current state administration, the Public Security Secretariat has not been able to reach the 4,500 it seeks to deploy in the state’s 43 municipalities.

To date, he estimated that there is a deployment throughout the State of at most 4,380 officers, and the intention of this government is to have a minimum of 6,000 agents.

“We will do everything possible to achieve this goal.which will serve to improve the conditions of security, peace and tranquility of the entire population,” he said.
