The Vice President’s election campaign Kamala Harris asked another presidential debate with the former president Donald Trumpjust moments after Tuesday’s event in Philadelphia ended.

“Under the bright lights, the American people got to see the choice they will face at the ballot box this fall: whether to move forward with Kamala Harris or back away with Trump. That’s what they saw tonight and what they should see in a second debate in October,” said Harris campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillonin a statement.

O’Malley added: “Vice President Harris is ready for a second debate. Is Donald Trump, too?”

Trump said his team would consider participating in another debate. He claimed that the fact that Harris called for another debate in her mind meant she had lost.

“She wants to do another debate because she was defeated tonight. I don’t know if we’re going to do another one,” Trump said during an unexpected appearance in the press room. “She wants a second debate because she lost tonight, very badly… we will think about that.”

The presidential debate hosted by ABC was the first between Harris and Trump.

Trump debated former President Biden in the June 27 showdown, during which the president performed so poorly that Democrats called for him to step down and he eventually dropped out of the re-election race.

Harris’ campaign projected confidence and declared Harris the winner of the debate in his first statement afterward. O’Malley Dillon said Harris “dominated the stage on every single issue” and called Trump “totally incoherent.”
