Dozens injured when vehicle crashes into Elks Lodge in Arizona

Authorities reported that A vehicle crashed into an Elks Lodge in Arizona on Saturday, injuring more than two dozen people.

“Apache Junction Police and Superstition Fire & Medical District are currently working a scene at the Elks Lodge (2455 N Apache Trail). A vehicle collided with the building, causing multiple injuries and several people are being transported to the hospital,” the Apache Junction Police Department said in a statement posted on social media.

10 people were transported to local hospitals and another 15 were treated for minor injuries at the scene.authorities said.

“The driver is in custody and alcohol was a contributing factor,” authorities added in the statement.

The Elks Lodge is on N. Apache Trail in Apache Junction, a town about 45 minutes east of Phoenix.

A photo released by police on Saturday night appeared to show a dark van parked near a stage inside the venue. The vehicle in the image is surrounded by debris.

“We are currently working to identify all those involved. If you are looking for family or friends affected by this incident, please contact the Apache Junction Police Department at 480-982-8260,” police said.
