The Italian national team completed an exciting comeback on Friday at the start of the UEFA Nations League group stage by winning at home to France (1-3) with two goals in a second half to forget for the team led by Didier Deschamps.

The finalists of the last Euro Cup Germany 2024 again left offensive doubts despite having the best of their arsenal led by Kylian MbappéOusmane Dembélé and Antoine Griezmann who once again fell short.

The Italians did not fail, as they recovered from an early goal by the French to complete a great comeback in the second half and take the victory at the Parc des Princes in the first match of Group 2 of the UEFA Nations League.

The first goal came after half an hour of play for the Italians, who had Sandro Tonali back in the Azzurri after his suspension was reduced for a sports betting issue, and it was precisely from the feet of the Newcastle player that the equaliser for the visitors came.

A wall pass between Tonali and Federico Dimarco was finished off by the latter with a first-time left-footed shot after entering from the left side of the French area, putting the score at 1-1 and setting the stage for a comeback in the second half.

Barely five minutes into the second half, Italy took the lead thanks to a goal scored by Davide Frattesi on a counterattack that ended with a pass from the right by Mateo Retegui finding Frattesi almost in the heart of the area with a first-time finish to make it 1-2.

The final blow was dealt by Giacomo Raspadori who, after an auto-pass inside the area after receiving a ball from Destiny Udogie (m.74), sent a cross shot with which he put the final 1-3, ruining the French party in Paris.

Before the first minute of play had passed, the French national team had already taken the lead on the scoreboard thanks to a goal scored by Bradley Barcola.

France had started with a record goal

Less than a minute into the game at the Parc des Princes, France took the lead thanks to Bradley Barcola, who made it 1-0 after 13 seconds.

The PSG player thus scored the fastest goal in the history of the French team, leaving behind the record of 34 seconds achieved by Franck Sauzée in 1992, according to information from L’Equipé.

France will now have to turn the page and focus on their next match, on Monday against Belgium, while Italy will do the same against Israel on the same day, both in the second round of this UEFA Nations League.
