Released in October 2019the original function Tesla’s “Smart Summon” allowed users to call their vehicles remotely by using a smartphone.

However, in its early stages as a beta version, the feature showed several limitations and some safety issues, including minor incidents due to the complexity of operating in environments with pedestrian traffic and moving vehicles.

Four years later, Tesla has perfected this technology and introduces “Actually Smart Summon”an improved and stable version that promises a safer and more efficient experience.

What is Actually Smart Summon?

The “Actually Smart Summon” function, Available in software version 2024.27.20takes autonomous driving to the next level.

Designed to facilitate vehicle movements over short distances and in controlled environments such as parking lots and driveways, it enables the Tesla to automatically navigate to the owner’s location, using the mobile phone’s GPS as a guide.

The operating distance is limited to approximately 65 meters.making it ideal for scenarios where the vehicle and the user are in relative proximity.

To ensure safe use, Tesla has specified that this feature is intended exclusively for parking lots and driveways on private properties.

Its use on public roads is not recommended.where the risks and variables are significantly higher. The intention is to enable drivers to summon their vehicle in safe environments, such as picking it up outside a shopping centre or having it driven from the garage to the driveway.

How does Actually Smart Summon work?

The process for using “Actually Smart Summon” is simple and designed to be intuitive.Tesla owners only need to open the app on their smartphone, select the summon function, and the car will start automatically.

Throughout the journey, The vehicle’s cameras will stream live to your phone screenallowing the user to monitor the car’s movement in real time and ensure that everything runs smoothly.

The update also offers two options for the user: You can have the car drive directly towards it, or specify an exact spot in the parking lot that you want the car to move to.This flexibility allows for greater comfort and customization according to the user’s needs.

The launch of “Actually Smart Summon” is an important step for Tesla in its goal of developing fully autonomous vehicles. However, like any emerging technology, it is not without its challenges.

The feature has been designed with a controlled environment in mind, minimizing risk in areas with less traffic and obstacles. Still, the company continues to refine the Full Self-Driving (FSD) system to ensure the vehicle operates safely and efficiently.even in more complex situations in the future.

The evolution of “Actually Smart Summon” shows how Tesla continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in the realm of autonomous driving.

While there is still a long way to go before cars can operate without human intervention in all situations, this feature represents a step toward a future where cars are not only electric, but also truly autonomous.

Tesla has made it clear that the goal is to bring autonomous driving technology to all of its vehicles.and features like “Actually Smart Summon” are critical steps toward achieving that goal.

With each update, the company not only improves the safety and efficiency of its software, but also paves the way for a future in which drivers can enjoy the freedom of movement without having to be behind the wheel.
