Reese Witherspoon and German financier Oliver Haarmann were spotted holding hands in New York on Wednesday, marking the first time the couple has publicly confirmed their relationship since they began dating.
The “Legally Blonde” star and Haarmann, 57, were spotted together as they left their hotel and headed to a van, catching the attention of the paparazzi.
The 48-year-old actress looked radiant in a chic black minidress and heels, while Haarmann opted for a more formal ensemble in a navy blazer, button-down shirt and khaki trousers. The pair were in obvious good spirits during their outing, enjoying their time in the city.
The trip to the Big Apple included Witherspoon’s sons, Deacon, 20, and Tennessee, 11, who were accompanied by Haarmann. The “Morning Show” star was also accompanied by her son for the weekend, although her daughter Ava, 24, was not present at the event.
When did the relationship start?
With rumors about their relationship beginning in July when the pair were spotted out for dinner at L’Artusi in the West Village, Witherspoon and Haarmann have been keeping a low profile regarding their love life.
Although there was initial speculation that they might have been secretly dating for months, sources close to the actress had indicated that she was “taking things slowly” and that her main priorities were her work and her children.
Witherspoon’s connection to Haarmann follows her recent divorce from Jim Toth, which was finalized in August 2023 after 12 years of marriage. While the actress was previously rumored to be in a relationship with Kevin Costner, she has not been publicly linked to anyone since the split. Haarmann, meanwhile, was previously married to Mala Gaonkar, with whom he has two children.
Witherspoon’s appearance at recent events, including the “Your Place or Mine” photocall in Los Angeles and her recent getaway to New York with Haarmann and his family, indicate that the actress is continuing to move forward in her personal life with confidence and joy.
