Hispanic man arrested after fleeing custody in San Bernardino

A Hispanic man is suspected of a fatal accident while fleeing from authorities in Fontana, He was captured early Thursday morning after escaping from police custody while being driven from a hospital to jail in Colton.San Bernardino County authorities reported.

Noé Armando Bañuelos, 32, a resident of Long Beachwas initially arrested Wednesday afternoon after crashing into a Mustang while trying to flee from California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers.

Bañuelos, a wanted federal fugitive, managed to escape from CHP custody while being transferred from Arrowhead Regional Hospital Center to the jail shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, authorities said, without providing details on how he escaped.

Several law enforcement agencies began searching for Bañuelos, who was eventually found on an abandoned golf course near the 400 block of North Pepper Avenuein Colton.

The case began after A CHP officer stopped Bañuelos at approximately 1:15 p.m. Wednesday on the 15 Freeway.after he was speeding in a white Jeep Cherokee.

During the traffic stop, Bañuelos was found to have a federal arrest warrantat which point the Spaniard attempted to escape.

Authorities said the officer immediately ran to his patrol car and He began to chase the Jeep driven by the Hispanic.

In his escape, Bañuelos crossed the city of Fontana, on Beech Avenue, heading west, when he collided with the Mustang.

After receiving the blow, The Mustang crashed into a fence on the side of the roadwhile the Jeep ended up with severe damage to the front.

After the accident, Bañuelos tried to flee, but was immediately arrested.Medical services transferred the Hispanic to Arrowhead Regional Hospital in Colton to receive treatment for the injuries he suffered from the impact.
