Remains of journalist murdered by municipal police in Taxco found

The journalist Enrique Hernandez Avilez He disappeared on June 21 when he was arrested by traffic officers while driving his taxi, which was his second source of income.

Since then, his whereabouts were unknown until his remains were found in a clandestine grave in the municipality of Taxco, Guerrero, one of the most violent areas of this state.

The victim was found thanks to the prior capture of 5 Taxco police officers, as well as the deputy director of said corporation, who were suspected of the crime and of having buried the body in a pit.

This was revealed at the time by the editor of the magazine Contacto Policiaco, Martin Vázquez López, who pointed out that the police and crane operators were involved in this disappearance.

After state and federal authorities intervened in the Municipal Police of Taxco, due to the large number of reports indicating his alleged involvement in various crimes, mainly disappearances of people, they were able to locate multiple clandestine graves, and in one of them the remains of the journalist.

At the initial hearing held on August 31, a judge ordered preventive detention for the six detained officers, so they will remain in the Iguala prison while the investigation continues.

In addition to these crimes, there have been attacks against four reporters from Chilpancingo and two others from Acapulco, all with gunshots, according to the newspaper El Sol de México.

Another mass kidnapping of journalists was recorded in the Tierra Caliente region, where the journalists returned and only the administrator of a portal remains missing.
