James Rodríguez will arrive on Netflix: The Colombian idol will tell his life in a documentary series

The story of James Rodriguezthe mythical 10 of the Colombian national team, who made an entire country vibrate with the magic of his left foot from the 2014 World Cup in Brazil until recently Copa America 2024, will be portrayed in a Netflix documentary.

The series is already in the production stage. under the direction of Simón Brand, a Colombian filmmaker who directed projects such as Unknown and Paraíso Travel, among others, according to a statement from Netflix.

According to the document sent, in the docuseries The captain’s life will be told for the first time through his voice: that of the human being behind the idol.

The docuseries will explore previously unpublished details of his life and professional career: from those that occurred during his time at iconic teams such as Real Madrid CF and Bayern Munich, through to his experience at the recent Copa América 2024, and the road still to be traveled in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

As a preview, The streaming platform launched the first advertisement this Wednesday, A 36-second clip in which the Colombian captain signs a ball and shows it to the camera, where you can see the legend “James, the docuseries”while the narration of one of the Colombian’s goals can be heard in the background.

This production is part of Netflix’s commitment to great sports stories such as the documentary series LALIGA: Beyond the Goal and hits such as Formula 1: Drive to Survive and Sean Eternals, as well as other biographical stories such as Beckham, Ángel Di María: Break the Wall, Neymar: Perfect Chaos, Higuita: The Way of the Scorpion, among many others.

So far The project’s launch date is unknown.; however, it is expected to arrive in 2025.
