Hispanics accused of stealing $500,000 worth of jewelry in Riverside

Two Hispanics from Los Angeles were arrested on suspicion of being part of an organized robbery gangwho stole jewelry and designer goods worth an estimated $500,000, Riverside County authorities announced Tuesday.

In a press release, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported that Anthony Peña-Gomez, 39, and Carlos Riquelme-Montecinos, 40broke into homes in the Indian Wells and Rancho Mirage neighborhoods in July 2024, breaking glass doors and windows of homes.

Authorities believe the two Hispanics They are associated with an organized group of thieves in the Los Angeles area. who has committed robberies throughout the country.

“On August 27, 2024, the Riverside Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Office, Indian Wells SET, Rancho Mirage SET, and the Palm Desert Station Robbery Suppression Team apprehended the suspects and They served a search warrant in the 400 block of Cottage Home Street in Los Angeles.“authorities said in the statement.

While executing the search warrant, officers found a stolen handgun from Burbank, as well as joyas that were stolen in residential break-ins in Rancho Mirage and Fullerton.

“Both suspects were booked into the John Benoit Detention Center with warrants for robbery with a bail of $500,000. This investigation is ongoing and no additional details are available,” authorities added.
