Hispanic student identified among Georgia shooting victims

Tragedy struck the halls of Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, where a teenager opened fire, causing the death of two teachers and two students, one of them of Hispanic origin.

According to authorities, The Hispanic victim is Christian Angulo, who along with Mason Schermerhorn and teachers Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Christina Irimie, 53died when suspected gunman Colt Gray, 14, opened fire inside the facility.

Following the tragedy, Christian’s family posted a GoFundMe to ask for support. In it, his older sister, Lisette Angulo, confirmed the difficult time they are going through.

“Unfortunately, my younger brother was one of the victims of the shooting at Apalachee High School. He was only 14 years old. He was a very good, sweet and caring boy,” the text details in English.

“We kindly ask that you help us with a donation to assist with the expenses of her funeral ceremony as her loss was so sudden,” she concludes.

According to local media, Christian Angulo’s family was Mexican.

Like Christian, Mason Schermerhornanother 14-year-old student with autism, was identified by relatives as one of the four victims killed in the mass shooting.

Mason’s family initially circulated his photo on social media after they were unable to contact the teenager, but as the hours passed, he was identified among the victims.

In addition, Richard “Ricky” Aspinwall, a math teacher and assistant football coach for the Apalachee Wildcats, also lost his life. According to the school itself, Aspinwall, 39, was the team’s defensive coordinator and was hired in 2023.

Rounding out the list was math teacher Christina Irimie. According to records, she was part of the math department at Apalachee High School and students described the 53-year-old teacher as patient and caring.
