Mississippi bus crash leaves seven dead and dozens injured

Seven passengers died and dozens were injured, including 37 who were taken to hospitals, when A bus headed to Mexico overturned on a Mississippi highway on Saturday due to tire failure.

Six of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while the seventh died at a hospital, the Mississippi Highway Patrol reported, according to CNN.

He also indicated that “Several Mexican identification documents” were found on the bus that crashed in Mississippi.

The Transportation Safety Board in coordination with the Highway Patrol has sent a team to conduct a safety investigation into the accident involving a 2018 Volvo bus traveling between the US and Mexico and belonging to the company Autobuses Regiomontanos, spokeswoman Miranda Fernandez told CNN.

The company has several offices in the US and although it is unknown where the trip began, it is known that it was headed to Mexico, according to Fernandez.

“All passengers go through the corresponding immigration controls and must present their passports or visas to enter Mexico or the United States,” the spokeswoman told the network.

Tow truck driver Keith Allison said the bus ended up in a ditch on a Mississippi highway and many passengers were ejected.

The event occurred just a few days after Four people died and 10 more were injured after a van carrying passengers overturned on Wednesday on a highway near the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area in Texas.

The accident occurred on Highway 287 in the city of Alvord, northwest of Dallas.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) indicated in a press conference that according to initial investigations The driver lost control of the truck, which overturned several times.

Several people were ejected from the vehicle because they were not wearing seat belts. Three people were pronounced dead at the scene, including the driver.

Eleven people were taken to hospitals and one of them died at the medical center.

The van was traveling from Florida with passengers, but its final destination has not been established.
