This Thursday the Spanish chef Daniel Sancho He was sentenced to life imprisonment for three crimes related to the death of the Colombian plastic surgeon Edwin Arrietawho took his life just over a year ago on the island Kon Phaghan.

Since then the son of Rodolfo Sancho and Silvia Bronchalo He is currently in prison Koh Samuiwhere he would like to remain and not be transferred to another, but that decision does not depend on him, but on the authorities.

The prison he is in is not exactly luxurious, but rather he is already well-known among the inmates and a change of prison would force him to go through the adaptation process again.

In Koh Samui, as in other prisons in Thailand, inmates live in overcrowded and precarious conditions.

The inmates’ activities began at 6 a.m. with the first count, while at 8 a.m. the Thai National Anthem was sung and the second roll call was made.

After a day full of activities, the inmates’ workday ends at 9:00 p.m., a time when there should be no more noise.

The cells are of standard size, but are inhabited by between 50 and 60 people, making overcrowding levels extreme.

Another point to note about the cells is that they all have a hole in one of the corners, which is used by the inmates to relieve themselves, so the sanitation levels are minimal.

Visits are allowed, but for short periods of time, only from Monday to Friday and through a screen, so there is no contact between the convicts and their families.

It is not yet known what conditions Daniel Sancho is under, but it is known that foreigners receive better treatment than Thai prisoners.
