LeBron James is getting closer to fulfilling one of his biggest dreams not only as a basketball player, but in his life. The living legend and all-time leading scorer in the NBA said it a few years ago“I will hold on to my NBA career until I can play with my son.” That wish will come true this season, which will begin next October, since Bronny James was drafted by the Lakers and will debut in his rookie year with the team where his father is the undisputed leader.

Something that will surely have the spotlight on and all the media attention is to see what the father-son relationship will be like on the NBA courts; see how they will be sharing the court, locker room and the way Dealing with defeats and victories will be one of the most important focuses of the season for the Los Angeles Lakers.

LeBron James talks about what it means to play on the same NBA team as his son Bronny and reveals that they’ve already talked about how he should refer to him on the court:

“He can call me 2-3, Bron or, you know, GOAT, if he wants. We can’t be on a counterattack and he can’t… pic.twitter.com/81Nx5CUeTn

All the spotlights on the James

A detail that LeBron James wants to make quite clear It’s what the relationship with Bronny will be like once they are in working mode, since this will obviously be one of the focuses for the media and especially the fans.

The former Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat player who recently won the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, had some words about the conditions already established with Bronny, when he was a guest on the podcast called ‘The Shop’. LeBron has been preparing the ground for the coexistence between the two to be as healthy as possible and in the atmosphere of the locker room and on the court, establishing that the relationship between father and son must have some rules when it comes to work.

“You can’t call me Dad in the workplace. Once we finish the “When we get to practice and walk out the door of the arena, I can be Dad again in the car if we’re on the way home. But on the court, you’ll have to call me something else, like ‘2-3,’ ‘Bron,’ or even ‘GOAT’ if you prefer,” LeBron said, half-serious and half-joking.

The most professional environment possible

On the show, LeBron explained that all these rules They are necessary because what he wants most is to be able to create a professional environment around the team and everything related to the Lakers, and thus be able to concentrate on each person’s role in the season, as well as being able to get away from the complexity of family life. In that sense, LeBron had the following words: “It’s easy for me, because I’ve called him ‘Bronny’ for a long time. It’s not like I’ve been saying to him ‘hey, son; hey, son!’ So it’s easy for me. He’ll be the one who has to make the adjustment.”

LeBron again put a lot of emphasis on what Bronny should not do do at all once they’re both wearing Lakers colors: “We can’t be running down the court and he’s yelling, ‘Dad, put the ball up! Dad, I’m open! Dad, let’s go!’ No, you can’t do that, it wouldn’t work.”
