The Democratic presidential candidate released a campaign promotional message in which she pledges to build 3 million homes during her administration.
In order to combat inflation, The Californian who aspires to become the first female president in the history of the nation spread a message in which she takes on the challenge of providing affordable housing to citizens who are unable to continue paying high rents.
Harris’s approach to the sector is believed to stem from her personal experience of watching her mother save up enough money over a decade to afford her own home.
The goal of Kamala Harris’s advisers is to have the announcement reach voters in key states, such as Arizona and Nevada, where they aim to strengthen the image of African-American women by attacking the needs of homeless citizens who are struggling to cope with rising rents.
Kamala Harris says the government will offer up to $25,000 in assistance to first-time homebuyers.
And according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Over the past 12 months, housing costs have increased by 5.1%, almost double the 2.9% increase in inflation over the same period.
In this regard, Dan Kanninen, director of Kamala Harris’ campaign in the disputed states, praised the proposal that seeks to reduce the economic gap.
“Vice President Harris knows we need to do more to address our housing crisis, which is why she has a plan to end the housing shortage,” she said.
For developers who focus on real estate projects for first-time buyers and those with limited resources, the 59-year-old Democrat will guarantee them tax breaks; while for those dedicated to building rental housing, it would expand existing incentives.
And to reinforce this idea, Kamala Harris’ team is preparing events where she will promote the concept of housing for all in cities such as Lancaster, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, in Pennsylvania; Phoenix and Tucson, in Arizona; Las Vegas and Reno, in Nevada; Asheville and Charlotte, in North Carolina; and Savannah, in Georgia.
