Member of a journalistic team dies after Russian missile hits a hotel in Ukraine

Ryan Evans, a security adviser for the Reuters team covering the war in Ukraine, has died, and two journalists were injured in an attack on a hotel in the city of Kramatorsk, in eastern Ukraine.

Initially the news agency said that His team of six journalists covering the war in Ukraine was hit “by an apparent missile attack” One of them was missing and, according to local authorities, was trapped under the rubble, while two others were hospitalized. The news agency indicated that the other members of the team had been located.

However, as the hours passedthe agency confirmed the death of British security adviser Ryan Evans, 38, who was staying at the Sapphire Hotel with colleagues in the Donetsk region, while two other members of the six-person Reuters crew were hospitalised with injuries.

Local officials said the hotel was hit by a Russian Iskander-M ballistic missile, leaving journalists with blast injuries, concussions and cuts to their bodies.

Evans advised Reuters journalists on security, including in Ukraine, Israel and at the Paris Olympics, according to the news agency.

Journalists from another agency, the Associated Press, at the scene described the hotel as “rubble” and bulldozers were used to clear the debris hours after the attack.
