Julio Cesar Chavez He said that at the best moment of his career I would have beaten him up Floyd Mayweather, former world champion in five different divisions, this is in reference to the fact that a few days ago “Money” mentioned in a press conference on Aztec soil that could beat the legendary boxer and his son with one hand.
“He can say what he wants, but In the ring, at my best, with all due respect I would have beaten him up. I am already 62 years old, If I were 20 years younger, I would still have a chance”He explained hours before the controversial exhibition fight in which Mayweather defeated John Gotti III to boos from the crowd.
This, despite the fact that Mayweather retracted his statement shortly before and sent his respect to Chavez, whom he thanked for opening the door to boxers like him.
However, Mayweather did not rule out challenging the first Mexican champion in three different weight classes boxing legend, who days earlier posted on his Instagram account a poster of an alleged fight between him and Mayweather next September, something that the ‘Pretty Boy’ denied was planned.
In this regard, Chavez added that he would be willing to fight the American, but with certain conditions.
“Right now I would only fight Mayweather with a mask, because I have a problem with my nose, and only in three rounds.” added Chavez, who in recent years has participated in exhibition fights.
Floyd Mayweather defeated John Gotti III on Saturday, who never posed a threat to ‘Money’, an exhibition fight in Mexico City, which generated boos in the more than 20,000 fans who filled the CDMX Arena.
In Mayweather’s first fight in Mexico, retired since 2017 with an undefeated record in 50 fights, the former five-division world champion offered a dirty fight, with several illegal blows, but was not sanctioned because in an exhibition there are no judges, therefore, there was no winner or loser.
