Mexican striker Raúl Jiménez started on the bench again but ended up coming on in the final stretch of what was Fulham’s first win in this nascent Premier League season by beating Atletico Madrid at home Leicester City (2-1).

Raul Jimenezwho was also a substitute in the first match of the tournament that resulted in a defeat against Manchester United (1-0), entered in the 80th minute of the match played this Saturday at the Craven Cottage stadium in London, once again taking the place of the Brazilian Rodrigo Muniz.

Since the second half of last season, the Mexican striker has lost his starting position to the detriment of the Brazilian attacker, who took advantage of Jiménez’s absence due to injury to take over the starting eleven and so far this campaign he continues to be the main option in the attack.

Fulham reacts in time

Mexican striker Raúl Jiménez’s team got off to a good start in Saturday’s match against Leicester City, opening the scoring through Emile Smith Rowe, who scored his first goal for his new team in front of his home fans.

The English midfielder received a ball from Adama Traoré and headed towards the opponent’s area, after leaving several defenders behind and finishing with a cross shot to give his team a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute.

Fulham were unable to hold on to their lead for long and before the break the visitors managed to level the score thanks to a goal converted by Belgian Wout Faes (m.38) with a header from a corner kick from the right.

Fulham claimed their first three points of the season after a strong home game in just their second outing.

However, in the second half, the team led by Portuguese Marco Silva took charge of enforcing their home ground and ended up taking back control of the scoreboard to take their first three points in this start of the new season in England.

Fulham were put back in front by Nigerian striker Alexander Iwobi, who received a long ball from Antonee Robinson on the left and, after a great break, unleashed a powerful shot to make it 2-1 in the 70th minute.

In this way, Mexican Raúl Jiménez’s Fulham added their first victory in this Premier League where they will be playing their next match this Tuesday against Birmingham City for the League Cup while next weekend they will face Ipswich Town for the local tournament.
