The body that is believed to be that of Hannah Lynchthe 18-year-old daughter of British tech mogul Mike Lynchwas recovered from the wreck of the yacht Bayesian that sank off Sicily this week, an Italian coast guard official said Friday.
According to CNN, divers were seen at the scene carrying the last body bag from a rescue boat into the port of Porticello, ending a five-day search by Italian authorities for the victims of the shipwreck.
After Hannah Lynch’s body was recovered, a family spokesperson said: They are devastated, in a state of shock and are being comforted and supported by family and friends.
“Their thoughts are with all those affected by the tragedy. They would like to sincerely thank the Italian coast guard, the emergency services and all those who assisted in the rescue. Their only request now is that their privacy be respected at this time of indescribable grief,” the spokesman said.
The discovery comes after four bodies were recovered on Wednesday, August 21, while a fifth body was found among the wreckage of the yacht.
The British-flagged ship, with 22 passengers and crew on board, sank on Monday after Its mast, one of the tallest in the world, broke in two during a violent storm.
At the time of the disaster, the yacht was carrying 22 people. Immediately after sinking, 15 people were rescued and one body was recovered, later identified as the chef. Recaldo Thomas.
On Thursday, August 22, an Italian government official confirmed that British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch was among the dead. At the time, his daughter Hannah was still missing.
Other missing people have previously been identified as Morgan Stanley International Chairman Jonathan Bloomer and his wife, Judy, and New York City-based attorney Christopher Morvillo and his wife, Neda.
The passengers were celebrating after Lynch was acquitted in June in a financial fraud trial in the U.S., a source close to the survivors told PEOPLE. “That’s why he brought his closest friends and colleagues on the trip,” she said.
