CHICAGO.- Olivia Troye was part of former President Donald Trump’s administration, so she knows him from a unique perspective, which has led her to turn her back on him to support Kamala Harris.

Troye will give a speech on Wednesday at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), the campaign of Vice President Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz told this newspaper.

She was a White House National Security Council official during the Trump administration and is of Mexican-American descent. Her mother is originally from Mexico.

His support for the Republican has ended, something he will explain at the convention at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Troye joins moderate Republicans and independent voters who are joining Donald Trump’s coalition against extremism.

The former official will join other Trump supporters who have given speeches at the DNC.

Others have included John Giles, mayor of Mesa, Arizona; Geoff Duncan, former lieutenant governor of Georgia; Adam Kinzinger, former congressman from Illinois; and Stephanie Grisham, former press secretary in Trump’s White House.

Democrats also added support from other Republicans, including a video from former MAGA activist Rich Logis and comments from Kyle Sweetser, R-Ala.

“This week, the millions of Republicans and independents who have rejected Donald Trump will see that there is a place for them in the Harris-Walz coalition,” said Austin Weatherford, National Director of Republican Engagement for Harris-Walz 2024. “We will put patriotic Republicans front and center in our convention programming to explain, in their own words, why they put country first and support Vice President Harris.”

The invitation to these former Trump supporters is an effort to grow a pro-Harris movement.

“We will continue to remind Republican and independent voters that Donald Trump does not represent their values,” Weatherford said. “All Americans deserve a president who will protect their freedoms and always put the best interests of the American people above his own.”

The Republicans for Harris-Walz platform was launched this month to appeal to Republicans disillusioned with Trump and the widely seen extremist agenda of Project 2025.

“The launch also had the backing of dozens of prominent Republican leaders and state-level organizations in critical battlegrounds across the country,” the report added.

Weatherford has twenty-five years of experience in Republican politics and campaigns, including serving as Chief of Staff to Congressman Adam Kinzinger for a decade.
