Supplemental Security Income (SSI) as its name indicates It is a supplementary check from Social Security aimed at retirees, people with disabilities and low-income seniors.

This payment is sent monthly from the Social Security Administration (SSA) funds that They range from $943 dollars for individual beneficiaries, $1,415 dollars for groups and $472 for essential persons, who are those who provide necessary assistance or care to SSI beneficiaries.

To be insured by SSI, applicants must meet certain requirements such as: Retirees must not be older than 65 years, Older adults must be of limited resources and the disabled must be completely or partially blind, or have a physical or mental condition that limits their daily activities.

According to the SSA payment schedule, Supplemental Security Income checks are sent out on the first day of each month; however, When the payment day coincides with a weekend or holiday, the entity makes adjustments so as not to delay the distribution of the money.

In the case of August, a second SSI check is planned, this is not about extra money, but It is an advance payment corresponding to the month of September Since the day on which the money should be sent coincides with a weekend, for that reason the insured will receive their benefit on Friday the 30th.

The entity points out that It is very important that both SSI and other program beneficiaries are informed of payment days. This way they can better plan their personal finances.

With the next payment on Friday, August 30, there would only be three more checks left for the rest of the year and these will be sent on the following days:

  • Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
