Julián Araujo took very little time to make his debut with Bournemouth, who this Saturday began adding points in the 2024-2025 season of the Premier League thanks to a draw (1-1) in their visit to Nottingham Forest.

The Mexican defender, who started the match on the bench for the team coached by Spaniard Andony Iraola, ended up entering the field of play in the 63rd minute, taking Adam Smith’s place at left back.

Julian AraujoThe 23-year-old recently joined Bournemouth from FC Barcelona after the English club paid around $11 million dollars in a contract that binds the Mexican player for the next five seasons.

The moment Mexican defender Julián Araujo entered the match this Saturday between his team, Bournemouth, and Nottingham Forest.

The Aztec defender had a rather discreet debut with Bournemouth, leaving a pass percentage of 68 percent, the result of 13 completed passes out of 19 attempts. In addition, he won the only duel he had during the little more than half an hour he was on the pitch.

Julián Araujo’s performance adds to that of Mexican Raúl Jiménez on Friday in Fulham’s painful 1-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United. The striker came on in the 78th minute of the match that was decided in the final stretch with a goal from Joshua Zirkzee (m.86).

The other Mexican in the English championship, Edson Álvarez with West Ham, has not yet fully recovered from the muscle injury suffered during the 2024 Copa América and will therefore not be in the starting lineup for this Saturday’s match against Aston Villa.

A summary of the match between Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth on the first day of the 2024-2025 Premier League season.

Reaction on time

Bournemouth came very close to leaving empty-handed in their visit to Nottingham Forest, who started Saturday’s match on the right foot thanks to a goal scored by Chris Wood before the first half hour of the match following a defensive error.

In the 23rd minute, Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto failed to effectively clear a shot from Ryan Yates and that was when Wood appeared, beating the defenders to make it 1-0 with an empty net.

Andony Iraola’s team were unable to figure out their rival and when everything seemed to indicate that they were going to leave City Ground with a defeat, the Ghanaian striker, Antoine Semenyo (m.88), appeared to seal the tie.

A mix-up inside the Nottingham area after a cross from the left by Ryan Christie allowed the African to find the ball in front of goal and without any further problems he was able to make it 1-1 on the scoreboard.

Julián Araujo’s Bournemouth next match will be next weekend when they face Newcastle in the second round of the English championship, which will be the Mexican defender’s debut in front of his fans.
