The mother of Simone Biles He wants to make up for the time he lost by not being there for his daughter as she grew up while he had to deal with drug abuse problems, a situation that is now in the past and for which he dreams of having a relationship with his daughter again.
In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, the biological mother of the gymnast who shines in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games winning four medals (three of them gold), she acknowledged the problems that kept her away from sports for many years.
“It was hard to give up my kids, but I had to do what I had to do. I couldn’t take care of them. I was still using and Ronald (Shanon’s father) didn’t want me in and out of their lives when I wasn’t well.”said Shannon Biles, Simone’s mother.
In Shannon’s absence, little Simone Biles ended up being raised by her maternal grandparents Ronald and Nellie Biles, who became a fundamental pillar in the sporting career of the gymnast who has left her name written in the history of the sport.
Shannon said that while she would like to be able to be a part of her daughter’s life, she will not put any pressure on her and will wait until the time comes for them to have the opportunity to talk about everything they have been through over the years.
“I am waiting for the opportunity, and I hope that she can come to me and we can sit down and talk. It is all a matter of patience. I am waiting for her and I am patient, you cannot pressure anyone. I would have liked to be part of everything she has experienced, but I just have to wait for her.”he commented.
Her mother’s drug and alcohol problems led to Simone Biles having a rather complicated childhood, which improved once she went to live with her grandparents after having spent time in several shelters with her three siblings who were later adopted by other families.
