Four suspects were arrested this Thursday in relation to the murder of actor Johnny Wactorauthorities reported.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said it executed search warrants and arrested four suspects: Robert Barceleau, 18, of Huntington Park; Leonel Gutierrez, 18, of Los Angeles County; Sergio Estrada, 18, of Los Angeles County; and Frank Olano, 22, of Inglewood.
Of the four arrested, Barceleau, Gutierrez and Estrada were taken into custody on suspicion of murder.while Olano is believed to have been an accomplice to the crime.
According to the Los Angeles Times and TMZ, the Los Angeles police was investigating members of the Florencia 13 gang linked to thefts of catalytic converters in the region.
At around 3:25 a.m. on May 25, Wactor was shot and wounded without any provocation.The actor had just finished his shift as a bartender at a bar in downtown Los Angeles and was walking to his car with a co-worker when he discovered several men trying to steal the catalytic converter from his vehicle.
The 37-year-old actor approached the people who They had the car raised with a floor jack to steal the catalytic converterthe LAPD said in a statement.
As Wactor approached the subjects, One of the suspects shot Wactor in the chest.Before the shooting, the actor stood in front of his co-worker to try to protect her, according to his family and friends.
A team of paramedics arrived at the scene and immediately transferred Wactor to a hospital, but was declared dead.
Catalytic converters have become an object highly prized by thieves because they are rich in precious metals that can be resold.
On August 4, the Los Angeles Police Department published the photographs of the suspects and a vehicle allegedly linked to the shooting.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Johnny Wactor’s mother, Scarlett Wactor, urged Mayor Karen Bass and Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón to Strengthening the criminal justice system.
“We have to start with Los Angeles. People are watching you from all over the country“And this is where we need to start changing,” said Scarlett Wactor.
Johnny’s mother said he’s starting to sound like a broken record when talking about the pain he feels for the loss of his son.
Johnny Wactor’s family and friends pressed during the press conference for authorities to could have arrests in relation to the murder of the television actor.
