The President of the United States, Joe Biden said he intends to embark on a campaign tour with Vice President Harris in the coming weeks after having finished his own candidacy, where he plans to visit Pennsylvania.

In a conversation with CBS that was published on Tuesday, Biden said he was willing to do “whatever helps the most” to ensure that Harris, the current vice president, defeats Republican Donald Trump next November.

Biden said in the interview that aired Sunday that he speaks with Harris frequently. and praised his running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

“He’s the kind of guy I like. He’s real. He’s smart. I’ve known him for several decades. I think he’s a great team,” Biden said.

The president announced that he is planning a tour of meetings in Pennsylvania with the state’s governor, Josh Shapiro.whose name was on Harris’s list of candidates to be her vice presidential running mate.

Notably, Biden had yet to appear on the campaign trail either with Harris or alone since announcing on July 21 that he would not seek reelection amid pressure from other Democrats to step aside after a disastrous debate performance against former President Trump.

Harris has, experts say, consolidated support among elected Democrats and rejuvenated her base voters, drawing large crowds this week in several battleground states.

Despite this, Biden may be an asset to certain groups of voters, particularly older ones, who could be decisive in the November contest, although his overall approval rating remains stuck around 40 percent, as it has been for much of his presidency.
