Armed group shoots dead five women in a house in Mexico

An alleged armed group shot dead five women, all members of a familyin an attack carried out this Saturday in a house in the western state of Michoacán, in Mexico.

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported that the multiple crime occurred around 4:00 p.m., in a house located on Joaquín Amaro Street, in the town of Ziquítaro, belonging to the Michoacan municipality of Penjamillo, bordering the state of Guanajuato.

Authorities revealed that Three of the victims were an 80-year-old woman, as well as her daughter and granddaughter, aged 47 and 17, respectively.

The other two women were 27 and 24 years old, respectively, and according to the Prosecutor’s Office, they are second-degree relatives of the first three.

Neighbors of the area They helped a two-year-old child, a relative of the victims, who was seriously injured in the attack.so he was transferred to a regional hospital.

Outside the house, the killers set fire to a grey vehicle, apparently owned by one of the women.

Agents from the state prosecutor’s office collected various clues at the crime scene that allowed them to obtain the characteristics of the murderers, so a strong operation has been deployed in the region, in coordination with the Civil Guard (State Police), National Guard and the Mexican Army, as well as with authorities from the neighboring state of Guanajuato.

Just last August 3, an armed group kidnapped Maribel Juárez Blanquet, councilwoman of the Penjamillo municipality and former mayor of the Michoacan municipality of Angamacutiro, along with a woman who acts as her personal assistant. Both victims are missing.

Organized crime groups such as the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), the Knights Templar, the United Cartels and the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel operate in this region of Michoacán.
