With the weight of experience of having been part of two World Cup processes in Germany 2006 and South Africa 2010, the former player of Cruz Azul, Monterrey and Querétaro, Ricardo Osorio, expressed his disagreement with the return Javier “Vasco” Aguirre at the head of the Mexican national teambecause he described this decision as a setback of more than 20 years in the development of the Tricolor.
Osorio, a national team player who was a star in Germany 2006 to the point of being hired in the Bundesliga by Stuttgart, unlike the majority of opinions that described the return of the experienced strategist, did not agree with the decision and explained his reasons.
“For a person to come for the third time to save the ship, don’t you think that we are not doing something right? If he (Javier Aguirre) “He helped us in 2002, 2010 and now in 2024, holy cow, we have gone back almost 20 years!”
Osorio also stated that in the last two years the Mexican team has lost prominence and that this cannot happen, especially because seriousness and respect for coaches has been lost.
“What I can summarize in these two years is that the team has not gained seriousness, it has not been given the seriousness that it should be given, nor has it been given respect to the coaches, choosing well what the future of the team is because right now we are in the same situation as four years ago,” said Osorio, an undisputed starter for the Tricolor under Ricardo La Volpe in 2006 and Javier Aguirre himself in 2010.
The former World Cup defender said it was inconceivable that they did not advance to the second phase of the last two World Cups, “which is a wake-up call that should have already been addressed, because before it was discussed that the fifth game was not achieved and now we are not even moving on to the next phase.”
It should be noted that Osorio burst onto the scene in the 2006 World Cup with an impressive force that made him a key player in coach Ricardo La Volpe’s scheme, from the qualifying stage. and then the Confederations Cup and of course the World Cup, where he received an offer from Stuttgart of the Bundesliga to be alongside Pavel Pardothe first two players to play in that highly competitive European league.
