Senator J.D. VanceRepublican vice presidential candidate in the 2024 electionstried on Wednesday to confront Vice President Kamala Harris when they were both at the same airport in Wisconsin at the same time.
“I just wanted to see my future plane,” Vance, Republican of Ohio, told reporters traveling with him after walking to Air Force Two. “But I also wanted to go say hello to the vice president and ask her… why is she refusing to take questions from the media?”
Harris and Walz held an outdoor rally in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where hundreds of supporters lined up for hours to see the Democrats.
Vance spoke at Wollard International, an aviation equipment manufactureralso in Eau Claire, before a small audience, where he answered questions.
Although he walked toward Air Force Two, Vance said he did not speak to or see Harris. Harris’s motorcade moved away as Vance approached. “I don’t think the vice president waved to me as she drove away, but I’m glad she did,” Vance said.
Both Vance and Harris They made reference to the meeting on the airport runway on social media.
Vance posted a photo on X, formerly Twitter, of himself and members of his team walking away from Air Force Two. He captioned it: “This new version of Entourage is going to be amazing.”
Another user posted a more complete video of Vance’s visit to Air Force Two.
Harris’ campaign released a video of Harris greeting young girls on the tarmac, ending with a panning shot of Vance’s plane taxiing down the runway.
