Colombian family wanted by the US for trafficking a ton of cocaine a month arrested

An investigation carried out by the Colombian National Police with the support of the FBI, led to the dismantling of a family clan dedicated to drug trafficking to the United States.

Through simultaneous operations carried out in the city of Valledupar and in the municipality of Aguachica, Four members of this criminal network were arrestedthree of whom are relatives and were wanted by US authorities.

This network, according to Colombian authorities, operated from the Colombian Caribbean coast to Miami, where they sent up to 1,000 kilos of cocaine per month, so The FBI was on their tail.

In addition, it was established that the leader of the criminal group was Edilberto Lopez Fareloalias “Vecho”, who is linked to the Gulf Clan and with the criminal group “The Pachencas”who provided them with protection.

In this way, they were able to use strategic areas for the export of narcotics, such as ports and coastal strips, mainly in the departments of Cesar, La Guajira, Magdalena and Norte de Santander.

They used speedboats

The captured men, who were placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office of the Nation awaiting the extradition process to the United States, They would have managed to send more than 10 tons of cocaine abroad.

According to the director of Dijin, Colonel Edwin Masleider Urrego, the drug shipments were sent via speedboats and containers with pieces of wood from the ports of Santa Marta and La Guajira to Central America and the United States.

Finally, it was reported that the detainees are wanted to appear before the Southern District Court of Florida in the United States, for the crime of drug trafficking and conspiracy.
