Although Donald Trump now in his campaign called Kamala Harris, like Tim Walz, communists, he did not always have the same vision, because years ago He called the Minnesota governor “a great guy.”

An audio recording recovered by the American press on Wednesday shows Donald Trump praising the performance of the newly appointed Democratic vice-presidential candidate, following the riots generated in the state of Minnesota, of which he was and is governor, following the death of George Floyd in 2020.

“I know Governor Walz is on the phone; I totally agree with the way he has handled (the situation) the last couple of days,” the Republican nominee for the November elections said in the recording, according to US media.

It was a call with governors at the time that lasted 58 minutes and in which Walz also said: “He’s a great guy. He’s got a great National Guard out there that’s ready to go in and fight like titans. The best thing, what they did in Minneapolis; it was incredible. They got it under control right away.”

The content of this file contrasts with the position that Trump himself has publicly maintained since Walz was appointed as Kamala Harris’ running mate in the Democratic Party for the presidential elections.

Republicans, including House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, have accused Walz of inaction during the incidents four years ago.

“Tim Walz is a radical who let rioters burn Minneapolis to the ground in 2020,” Scalise posted on X on Tuesday.

For his part, Trump has recently claimed that he stood up for Walz by saying publicly that he was “a good person” because the governor of Minnesota was “very concerned” about a mob surrounding his house, where he only had one security guard.

In addition, According to the audio, Walz agreed with Trump that it was necessary to use force initially to quell the riots.but argued that the next step was to allow peaceful protests to continue.
