Mexico extradited “El Diablo”, one of the most wanted criminals, to the United States

The United States Marshals Service reported that “The devil”an American fugitive who was considered one of the United States’ most wanted, was captured in Mexico.

Antonio RianoThe 62-year-old was arrested in his hometown of Zapotitlán Palmas in Oaxaca state, authorities said, where he was found to be working for a police force, ironically.

“When Riano was arrested in Mexico, it was discovered that he was working as a local police officer,” the agency said in a press release.

Riano has been on the list of most wanted fugitives with the Butler County, Ohio, Sheriff’s Office since 2004, when he was accused of shooting and killing 25-year-old Benjamin Becerra outside the Roundhouse Bar in Hamilton, Ohio.

Police said the gun used in the killing was found in Riano’s bathroom, NBC affiliate WLWT in Cincinnati reported. Afterward, fled the United States, allegedly to avoid prosecution.

In 2005, Riano appeared on an episode of the Fox television show “America’s Most Wanted”U.S. Marshals said they worked with the Justice Department’s Office of International Affairs and Mexican authorities to secure his arrest and extradition.

After being captured, Riano was flown from Mexico City to Cincinnati, and then taken to the Butler County Jail. Riano is charged with two counts of murder and one count of felonious assault..

“This type of arrest would not be possible without the cooperation and due diligence of investigators from the U.S. District Attorney’s Office, the U.S. Marshals Service and the U.S. Department of Justice,” said Butler County District Attorney Michael T. Gmoser.
