Democratic campaign launches “Republicans for Harris” to seek support from Trump opponents

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign launched an initiative called “Republicans for Harris”which aims to appeal to moderate Republican voters and others who do not support former President Donald Trump’s re-election bid for the White House.

Harris’ team said the initiative will be a “campaign within a campaign.”in which prominent Republicans will try to appeal to moderates, independents and Republicans who voted for former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley when she challenged Trump for the nomination. While Haley once said she would never vote for Trump, she has now voiced her support.

The program will kick off with events this week in Arizona, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, swing states where either of the two major parties could win the presidential election next November.

Arizona Republicans for Harris is launching today. Republican Mesa Mayor John Giles announced he will co-chair a new Arizona Republican task force for Harris with former GOP state Rep. Robin Shaw.

Among the Republicans who Harris included in her campaign are former White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham; former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan and former Rep. Adam Kinzinger.

Recently, John Giles, an influential mayor of the border town of Mesa, Arizona, published an op-ed expressing his support for Harris.

The conservative announced that he will co-chair a new Republican ‘Arizona for Harris’ task forcealong with former Republican state Rep. Robin Shaw.

“I believe strongly in defending democracy and defending our personal freedoms,” said Giles, a lifelong Arizona resident and long-time Republican.

“Donald Trump and JD Vance represent the greatest threat to American values ​​and institutions I have ever seen,” he added.

Similarly, former Florida state legislator Paula Dockery, Rich Logis, founder of Perfect Our Union, and Greg Wilson, former House Republican staff director, have all joined in supporting Harris as part of the launch of the “Republicans for Harris” program.

“After more than a decade of public service in Florida, I am deeply concerned by the radical transformation of the Republican Party under the authoritarian control of Donald Trump, a party I no longer recognize,” Paula Dockery, who served in the Florida Senate and House for more than 15 years, said in a statement.

“I am proud to give my full support to Vice President Kamala Harris“And I am honored to join the Florida Republican Caucus for Harris as co-chair,” Dockery added.

The “Republicans for Harris” platform builds on Harris’ campaign’s push with coalition groups across the country to “win the votes of independent, moderate and conservative voters who understand what’s at stake in November.”
