Incredible temperature rise in Southern California

Southern California is set to start the week with extreme heat warnings in effect, the state announced. National Weather Service (NWS).

According to meteorologists, thermometers in mountainous, desert and valley communities Highs may reach at least 110 degrees on Monday and Tuesday.

Another heat wave with elevated fire danger will impact areas away from the coast through at least Tuesday. Temperatures expected to climb as high as 106 degrees in San Fernando Valley and 110 degrees in Antelope Valley. See graphic for heat safety tips. #LAheat #LAWeather pic.twitter.com/MrCUBz6bi2

Coastal areas will also see high temperatures, according to the NWS, where communities can have records above 105 degreesunlike previous heat waves of the season, when beaches had less extreme temperatures compared to inland areas.

“Warm, dry conditions with some local breezes Concerns about coastal fires are growing during this periodincluding the potential growth of large vertical plumes,” weather officials said.

An extreme heat warning is in effect at least until Tuesday night for Antelope Valley and Santa Claritaas well as the entire Inland Empire region.

Specialists warned Southern California residents that Extreme temperatures pose a high risk of heat-related illnesses for anyone, especially for children, the elderly, people who do not have air conditioning and people who like to have outdoor activities.

Cooling centers were activated in Los Angeles offering service from this Sunday to Tuesday from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, at the following facilities:

  • Lincoln Heights Senior Citizen Center
  • Lake View Terrace Recreation Center
  • Mid Valley Senior Citizen Center
  • Fred Robertson Recreation Center
  • Jim Gilliam Recreation Center

Besides, Cooling centers can be found at most other Los Angeles Parks and Recreation facilities.as well as all Los Angeles City Public Library branches.
