Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign raised $310 million in July, with 60% of donations coming from women, according to a report released to this newspaper in advance.
“This is historic for a candidate who will make history this November. The tremendous outpouring of support we have seen in a short amount of time makes it clear that the Harris coalition is mobilized, growing, and ready to get to work to defeat Trump this November,” said Harris for President campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez.
The campaign official said the funds raised will be focused on field mobilization, with the opening of additional offices.
“Our money will go to work that wins close elections, whether it’s the organizer knocking on doors in DeKalb County, opening a rural office in Pennsylvania, or a college student showing up at their university’s club fair,” she said. “It’s the product of a campaign and a coalition that knows the hard work and fighting spirit it takes to win in November — and when we fight, we win.”
With that amount, Harris’ presidential campaign has $377 million in cash on hand.
“July was the best month of grassroots fundraising in presidential campaign history,” the campaign said. “More than $200 million [fueron] raised in the first week of Vice President Harris’ candidacy; the best week in fundraising history”
Compared to June, there were more than 10 times the number of Gen Z donors and more than eight times the number of Millennial donors, with about 60% being first-time donors.
“The majority of this grassroots fundraising came from first-time donors who were inspired to give in support of Vice President Harris’ historic candidacy. Their grassroots dollars will translate into more offices across the country and more staff engaging directly with voters and more opportunities for us to get our message directly to voters about what’s at stake in this election,” said Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison.
More than Trump’s campaign
Former President Donald Trump’s campaign announced Thursday that it had raised $138.7 million in July.
This fact sparked celebration among Democrats.
“July’s fundraising haul, fueled by the best month of grassroots fundraising in presidential history, is more than double what the Trump campaign and the RNC raised in July,” Harris’ campaign said.
Adding up the funds raised since the start of the Democratic presidential campaign, the report indicates that more than $1 billion has been raised.
“The vast majority of July’s fundraising came from grassroots donors, and eight of the campaign’s top ten grassroots fundraising days occurred in July,” it added.
A notable fact is that 94% of donations were less than $200, and teachers and nurses remain among the most common donor professions.
