Tom Cruise could be the surprise of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The actor is organizing a spectacular stunt for the Closing Ceremony, where he will pass the flag to Los Angeles, host of the 2028 Games, according to information from TMZ.

Sources close to the event have revealed that the plan includes Tom abseiling down from the top of the Stade de France, landing on the stadium pitch while carrying the official Olympic flag.

The telecast will segue into a pre-recorded film, with the first two minutes showing Tom flying in a plane carrying the Olympic flag from France to Los Angeles, culminating in a parachute jump toward the iconic Hollywood sign.

This spectacular stunt on the sign was filmed on a Saturday morning in March. Although it was thought that someone might spot Tom in the air and connect the dots, his descent went unnoticed.

Despite photos of Tom at the Hollywood Sign dating back to March, no one has managed to capture him in flight; he was only seen on the ground once, with no one knowing that this was related to the Olympics.

Tom handing over the flag

The film is expected to show Tom handing the flag to other Olympians, including a cyclist, a skater and a volleyball player, as they head to the next host city for the Summer Games.

Paparazzi images from March already document Tom passing the flag to the first Olympian.

Sources indicate that logistics for the stunts in France are still being worked out, with the closing ceremony scheduled for August 11. This involves considerable complexity, and it is possible that Tom will use a stunt double to perform the rappelling.

It has been reported that Tom is the driving force behind this project and that it was he who proposed to the International Olympic Committee the idea of performing a series of stunts to connect the Paris and Los Angeles Games.

Tom has also been involved in previous Olympic ceremonies, such as when he carried the torch in Los Angeles in 2004, as part of a worldwide relay ahead of the Athens Olympics.

The Olympic final is on August 11.
