Donald Trump’s running mate JD Vance has come to his defense in the face of criticism over his questions about the race of his rival Kamala Harris, a woman whom he defines as “false.”

During his guest appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) convention, The New York tycoon said that the Californian with aspirations of becoming the first woman to govern the United States “became black” to gain the political sympathy of that community, because previously it was defined as part of another racial group.

“I have known her indirectly for a long time, but not directly. She always had Indian ancestry and she only promoted that ancestry. I didn’t know she was black until a few years ago, when she became black. And now she wants to be known as black,” he emphasized.

Trump’s remarks immediately caused a stir among Democrats and on social media, to the point that Kamala Harris herself criticized the former president of the nation for his words.

“It’s the same old example. Division and disrespect. Let me say: the American people deserve better. The American people deserve better“, he said.

In this regard, during a rally held in Arizona, JD Vance He claimed that the Republican candidate’s statements about a woman, whom he described as false, were being exaggerated.

“Frankly, I think that It’s hysterical to see how the media is overreacting about.

I found what she said very funny. I think it highlighted the chameleon nature of Kamala Harris. She changes her mind on every subject. It is false. And I think our entire campaign is going to have a lot of fun pointing that out. And it seems like the president has calmly kicked us off,” he said.

It should be noted that Kamala Harris’s mother immigrated to the United States from India and her father did the same from Jamaica, so she is actually biracial, but because she was born in the United States, since she began her career in politics, she defines herself as a representative of the African-American community.
