Tribute to Celia Cruz
Salsa queen Celia Cruz will be celebrated at the Grand Performances summer concert series taking place at California Plaza (350 S. Grand Ave., Los Angeles). The event, titled A Tribute to Salsa Royalty, will feature renditions of the Cuban singer’s classics by Havana Secret, the band that accompanied the singer on her last tour of the United States. Gaby Moreno at the Music Center
Grammy Award-winning Gaby Moreno is the opening act for KCRW’s Summer Nights series at the Music Center’s Jerry Moss Plaza (135 N. Grand Ave., Los Angeles). Indie music at the Levitt Pavilion
And La Bamba, an experimental alternative indie band, and Buyepongo, an Afro-Latin fusion group, are the headliners of the summer concert series at the Levitt Pavilion in MacArthur Park (2230 W. 6th St., Los Angeles). Music for the family at the Getty
The Okee Dokee Brothers won a Grammy for their album “Can You Canoe?”, which showcases their passion for the outdoors and blends bluegrass and rock. Screen printing workshop in Catalina
The Catalina Museum for Art and History (217 Metropole Ave., Avalon) will host Intergenerational Printmaking Workshops, two workshops led by artist Sonia Romero. Families of various generations, especially Latinos, will connect with their cultural heritage through art and contribute to a collaborative public art piece that will be displayed outside the museum. Closing of exhibition
The Four Celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first time that the work of four Chicanos Carlos Almaraz, Beto de la Rocha, Gilbert “Magú” Luján and Frank Romero, known as “Los Four,” was exhibited in a world-renowned museum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Taking place at the Eastern Projects Gallery (900 N. Broadway #1090, Los Angeles), this exhibition includes new, old and original works, sculptures, works on paper and paintings by these creators. Classical music at the Bowl
