Project 2025 director resigns over Trump criticism

The director of the Project 2025 The Heritage Foundation’s chief executive, who is planning to overhaul the federal government for use when a Republican returns to the White House, resigned Tuesday after facing pressure from the campaign for the 2024 elections of Donald Trump.

Paul Dans, director of Project 2025, the far-right handbook for a second term for former President Donald Trump, resigned after a wave of criticism from Democrats and the Republican candidate himself, who has publicly distanced himself from the far-right program for a government transition that would take place if Trump wins the elections in November.

The conservative think tank Heritage Foundation, which brings together 110 right-wing organizations that developed Project 2025, confirmed on Tuesday the departure of Paul Dans in a statement sent to CNN and other media.

Paul Dans’ departure came after the project “completed exactly what it had set out to do: bring together more than 110 leading conservative organisations to create a unified conservative vision, motivated by devolving power from the unelected administrative state and returning it to the people,” said Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts, in the statement.

The Washington Post reported that the project plans to halt its operations.

Instead, lThe Heritage Foundation says Project 2025 is not going awayThe Associated Press reported, citing the Heritage Foundation, which He indicated that the Project 2025 website will remain active and the group will continue to review resumes for its database of nearly 20,000 people who aspire to be the officials who will execute its vision for government.

The group said Dans will leave the Heritage Foundation in August and that Kevin Roberts will now lead operations for Project 2025.

Why Trump denies Project 2025

Project 2025 designed a roadmap to transform the Administration during Trump’s first 180 days in office if he wins the elections on November 5th.

Among their plans is included concentrate powers in the president, dismantle several federal government agencies and fire thousands of public officials to replace them with people loyal to Trump, who implement an ultra-right agenda without objection.

He also proposes banning abortion rights and the use of the abortion pill mifepristone, cutting environmental protection policies, reactivating the construction of the border wall with Mexico and carrying out mass deportations of immigrants, issues that Trump himself defends at his rallies.

On July 5, Trump distanced himself from the plan, saying he did not know its creators and calling some of its proposals “absolutely ridiculous.”

However, according to a CNN analysis, at least 140 people who were part of Trump’s first administration now work for the organizations that developed Project 2025, such as his former chief of staff Mark Meadows and his adviser Stephen Miller.

The Trump campaign released a statement on Tuesday in which He reiterated that Project 2025 “has nothing to do” with the Republican candidate and said that its dissolution “would be very welcome.”

They also issued a warning to those who publicly lie about their influence on Trump: “They won’t end well.”

Democrats have denounced Project 2025 and will continue to do so

The Democratic election campaign, first led by President Joe Biden and now by Vice President Kamala Harris, has repeatedly used Project 2025 as an example of the danger Trump poses to democracy.

Vice President Harris’ campaign manager, Julie Chavez Rodriguez, said Tuesday that Democrats won’t stop talking about Project 2025.

“Hiding the 920-page plan from the American people doesn’t make it any less real; in fact, it should make voters more concerned about what else Trump and his allies are hiding,” Julie Chavez said in a statement. “Project 2025 is on the ballot because Donald Trump is on the ballot. This is his agenda, written by his allies, for Donald Trump to impose on our country.”
