The Mexican Rafael Marquez He did not miss the opportunity to show his gratitude to FC Barcelona and the president of the Catalan club, Joan Laporta, for the opportunity to lead the reserve team of the Blaugrana team for two seasons.
After having reached an agreement to renew his position for one more season less than a month ago, the “Kaiser of Michoacán” ended up becoming the Javier Aguirre’s assistant in the Mexican National Team which is why he had to leave his position as technical director of FC Barcelona B.
Given this situation, the former Mexican player, who had a stint with the Catalan team, said goodbye to the Catalan club, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity and especially to its president for the trust placed in him to take on the responsibility of managing the club’s youth teams.
“Thank you very much, Mr. President, for your trust and the opportunity.”wrote Rafael Márquez on his social networks where he accompanied his message of gratitude with a picture with Joan Laporta, head of FC Barcelona who hoped to count on the Mexican for the next season.
For the now ex-manager of FC Barcelona B, his arrival at the Catalan team meant an important step in his career as a coach after starting out in lower-level teams. In the two seasons he was with the Catalans, he was able to learn from this stage in which he is currently in training.
The Mexican coach was close to achieving promotion to the Second Division with the Catalans on two occasions, but was just one step away last season when he led his team to the final of the promotion playoffs, which they ended up losing to Córdoba.
Goodbye to your comfort zone
A few days ago, Mexican Rafael Márquez explained that the decision to end his time with the FC Barcelona reserve team to take on a new challenge within the Mexican national team alongside Javier Aguirre was a response to his desire to leave his comfort zone.
“I have never liked to be in a comfort zone in my life. I am always looking for growth and these two years at Barcelona Atlétic have helped me realize that there is a passion and an idea that I must continue to hone through hard work.”wrote the Mexican on his social networks.
Next week, Javier Aguirre and Rafael Márquez will be officially presented in their new positions within the Mexican National Team as part of a medium and long-term project with an eye toward the 2026 and 2030 World Cups.
