Republican campaigns are stepping up the message against undocumented immigrantsafter one of the central themes of its National Convention was the “invasion” of the United States.

“The open borders that Kamala Harris herself has been in charge of, I mean, how do you put someone in charge of a situation where you’re allowing 15, or even 20 million people to come into our country?” Sen. Tommy Tuberville (Cincinnati) said on Fox News. “Some of these people are good, but most of them are garbage.”

Tubernalle followed the line adopted by former President Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance (Ohio) in their election campaign, stating that Immigrants “come from jails and prisons in other countries”.

“We are going to live through very difficult times in the coming years, because many of these people have come here with different agendas, other than living in the great country in which we live,” he said.

Republican Bill Eigel, who is running for governor of Missouri, posted his ad on the X platform, formerly Twitter, where a Latino even translated the message into Spanish.

“My recent TV ad is a simple message to illegal immigrants: Party’s over. Pack your bags. You’ll have to get out of here,” Eigel wrote on Twitter.

The Republican Party’s electoral platform and former President Trump’s Agenda 47 include a plan for mass detentions and deportations of immigrants.

At the Republican National Convention (NRC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, several speeches addressed immigration as an issue of “invasion” of the US, in addition to stating that 80% are not Latino.

“Eighty percent of the people crossing the border are not Latino, they don’t even speak Spanish, they are coming from other continents,” Jaime Florez, the Republican Party’s spokesperson for Hispanic media during the NRC, said in an interview.

“They are people who come for the jobs of the Latinos.for places in Latino schools, for beds in Latino hospitals; these are people who come to take away from us or compete with us for all the achievements that we Hispanics, Latinos in this country, have been earning,” added Florez.

In his speech at the NRC, accepting the presidential nomination, Trump even made a connection between immigrants and crime.

“[Hay] a massive invasion on our southern border that has spread misery, crime, poverty, disease and destruction to communities across our territory,” he said.
