Katy Perry made a big pre-launch campaign “Woman’s World”her first single in four years, but The song’s chart performance this week was not as expected.

The song, cut pop dance and in whose lyrics the artist defends empowerment, debuted at number 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. In Canada it ranks 77th, in the UK 47th and on the Global 200 chart 65th. It is the first track to be promoted from the album. 143which will be available from September 20.

Shortly after the release of “Woman’s World” criticism arose because one of the producers is Dr. Lukewho was sued ten years ago by the singer Kesha of alleged sexual abuse. Some publications were in favor of the song, but others called it “an old bubblegum pop formula” (American Songwriter), “full of pseudo inspirational statements” (Slant Magazine) and “caught in a vague feminist empowerment, which may have worked in 2014, but falls short in 2024” (Vulture).
The video for the song also received mixed reviews due to a scene in which Katy is crushed by an anvil. She took to her Instagram account Instagram to explain the concept: “We’re having fun, being a little sarcastic with it, it’s very silly, physical comedy… We’re really going over the top, because I’m about to get crushed, which is like a reset, a reset for me and a reset for my idea of the divine feminine, and it’s a completely different world where we go after this.”
Until now Katy Perry has not reported what the second single from the album will be 143. “Woman’s World” was surpassed in the Hot 100 for songs of Ice Spice and Eminem; the latter achieved the highest debut of the week with “Habits”one of the songs from his new album The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grace)of which all the content was released on that list.
