Sergio “Checo” Pérez is confident after the Hungarian GP: “Our time will come”

He Seventh place achieved by Sergio “Checo” Pérez this Sunday at the Hungarian Grand Prix of Formula 1, although he is quite far from the top positions that the Red Bull team aspires to, he also left good feelings in the midst of the slump that the Mexican is currently going through.

The Guadalajara native, who had started from 16th place after having crashed in qualifying on Saturday, finished the race at the Hungaroring full of confidence for what lies ahead in what he hopes will be a resurgence in this 2024 F1 season.

“Our time will come because we are having a good pace“, he said Sergio “Checo” Perez after this Sunday’s race where the Mexican managed to be back in the top 10 after having finished in 17th place a couple of weeks ago in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

“There was no safety car, there was nothing to help us improve. The first stint was difficult with the hard tyre. We couldn’t get past, I was right behind Russell, and we were able to get back in the end and get as fast as we could. Russell passed us on the first lap, but we had a good pace.”he analyzed.

The Guadalajara native also gave an account of what was this weekend of ups and downs in Hungary where he hopes to be taking the first step to get back on the path of good results after eight races in a row without being able to get on the podium, something he hopes to achieve again as soon as possible.

“I’m taking the positive, the best Friday of the year, and then at the end I made a mistake that anyone makes, but it happens to us at a time and in the season we’re in. But I’m calm because I’m giving everything until the end.”said the Mexican who dropped to seventh place in the standings.

To close, the Mexican set his sights on the next race, the following weekend in Belgium, where the halfway point of the season will be reached and where they will arrive with an RB20 that still has details to be corrected after the impact it received on Saturday in qualifying.

“The car is not 100% ready, we have to analyse, from the reconnaissance laps, there are small details to adjust for Belgium”concluded the Mexican who is now in seventh place in the drivers’ standings for the 2024 Formula 1 season.
