Oscar de la Hoya, promoter of Golden Boy Promotions, questioned the World Boxing Council (WBC) after ordering the confrontation mandatory between William ‘Camarón’ Zepeda and Shakur Stevenson for the American lightweight title.

In a video posted on his Instagram account, De la Hoya reminded the organization that for three years He ordered the fight between Canelo Alvarez and David Benavidez and still nothing has happened. For this reason, the Golden Boy assured that Camarón Zepeda has other options and that he will soon communicate his decision.

“Let’s start with the WBC ordering Shakur Stevenson vs. William Zepeda. Ordering? What does that mean? They ordered Canelo vs. Benavidez three years ago and that hasn’t happened. William will make his decision very soon. “You have three other options,” he said.

Shrimp Zepeda, Mandatory challenger in all organizations at 135 poundsand the American had already shown interest in facing each other previously. Although both want to, Oscar De la Hoya assured that the only way they would fight immediately is if Shakur Stevenson joined Golden Boy Promotions, but the champion will not do so.

The promoter, who was not happy with the WBC order, made it clear that the Mexican He will be the one who chooses who to fight next. The promoter wants Camarón Zepeda to first conquer the title of Dennys Berinchyk -champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO)- and then unify with Stevenson.

For now we will have to wait to see what decision they will make in the end. Let us remember that the Aztec fighter is coming off a dominant performance against Giovanni Cabrera, whom knocked out at 1:58 of the third round. Camarón Zepeda attacked the American with a hook to the liver that sent him to the canvas and he was unable to get up after the referee counted to 10.
