Problems return for “Checo” Pérez: Crashes in Q1 of qualifying for the Hungarian GP

Weather conditions were against Sergio “Checo” Pérez, who had had a good start to the session on Saturday. Before his accident, the Mexican had achieved the sixth best time up to that point with 1:17.886, just behind the first, the British Lewis Hamilton (1:17.087).

Rain was present on the Budapest circuit shortly before the Mexican lost control of his RB20 when going over the curb, which caused him to end up hitting the barrier, seriously damaging the rear left side of his car.

The Mexican was thus placed in 16th position at the start of this Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix, where the Austrian team will have to get to work to get the Mexican’s car back in working order, which will require some replacements.

The two drivers of the Visa Cash App RB team, the Australian Daniel Ricciardo and the Japanese Yuki Tsunoda, were one of the good news of this Saturday’s session by achieving ninth and tenth place in the classification.

The rest of the top 10 was completed by the Spaniard Carlos Sainz Jr. (fourth), the Englishman Lewis Hamilton (fifth), the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (sixth), the Spaniard Fernando Alonso (seventh) and the Canadian Lance Stroll (eighth).
