The Chivas of Guadalajara They began to recover the ground lost in the first two games of the 2024 Apertura tournament where they registered just one point by beating Mazatlán 2-0 on the fourth date this Saturday, which together with the midweek victory allows the Guadalajara team to reach seven points in the current competition.

Under an attendance of more than 35 thousand fans, the Sacred Flock showed better form at the Akron stadium, which allowed them to achieve their second victory of the championship before the almost one-month break that the Liga MX will have. due to the activity of the Leagues Cup tournament with the participation of Mexican teams and Major League Soccer (MLS).

The victory was built with two goals scored by Mexican-American Cade Cowell and Armando Gonzalez, to overcome such a difficult opponent as the Mazatlán Gunners, who made the defeat dearly and throughout the 90 minutes forced goalkeeper Raúl “Tala” Rangel to make a maximum effort to prevent his goal from falling and allow the Mazatlecos to recover in the match.

Obviously for the squad led by Víctor Manuel Vucetich it is a hard blow, since it has accumulated three defeats in the four games it has played, with only a draw against Atlético de San Luis 2-2 on matchday 2 and defeats with Cruz Azul on the first day, Toluca on the third and now with Chivas, who have them placed in the penultimate spot in the general classification of the Apertura 2024 tournament.

The actions

The match started in a bellicose manner, with chances at both goals, where Alan Mozo tried to enable Javier Hernández which was already set to beat the Sinaloa goal, but in the end the defense prevented the ball from reaching the feet of the former Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham United, Sevilla and LA Galaxy striker.

But the Gunners were not intimidated and with a shot from Roberto Meraz they almost beat the goal of “Tala” Rangel, as well as an arrival by Luis Amarilla in the 19th minute, which was barely controlled by the local team.

For the second half, the duel changed with a goal by Cade Cowell at minute 51 in a great play from the left sector where he dribbled the defense, getting past his rivals to unleash a tremendous right-footed shot that placed the ball in the left corner for a great goal.

Mazatlán responded with two plays that put Chivas’ hearts in heaven, but goalkeeper Rangel stopped shots from Josué Colma and Yoél Bárcenas, to prevent his goal from falling. But Chivas put some distance between them with Armando González’s goal by deflecting Víctor Guzmán’s shot with his foot to change the direction of the ball towards goalkeeper Hugo González and thus establish the final 2-0.
