Starting an NBA career is no easy task for any player. rookie, and even less so if you are the son of perhaps the best player of all time, and this is something that Bronny James, son of none other than LeBron James, is currently experiencing.
Many continue to question his value in the world of basketball and especially as part of the NBA, and both the media, individual journalists and fans consider that he does not have the necessary level to have been selected with the 55th pick in the NBA rookie draft by the Los Angeles Lakers, the team where his father lives.
And the truth is that he has not had the best numbers in his first games in the Summer League, which is currently taking place in the city of Las Vegas, and it seems that this gives some reason to its critics.
In his most recent game he finished scoring a total of 8 points, his best mark So far, he has grabbed 5 rebounds, was able to steal/recover 2 balls, and while these are important numbers, when looking at the success percentage, it was not encouraging at all: 3 of 14 in field goals, 0/8 in three-point shots and he finished with a -9 in the plus/minus of his team, who fell defeated by the Houston Rockets.
Bronny shows his face after his bad game
However, despite not having had his best game and not having been able to Doing more to prevent the Lakers from losing to the Rockets, Bronny James faced the challenge in his post-game press conference: “I’m just going to watch my performance on video and analyze it. I look at the things I always do and the things I should focus on… Always focusing on playing as hard as I can and any opportunity I get I’m going to take advantage of it.” These were the words of Bronny, who remains focused on working, correcting and improving to face what will be his rookie year.
The G-League on the horizon
It doesn’t seem like his performance, at least so far, can be fully confirmed. The new coach of the legendary purple and gold team, JJ Redick, is calm and in his plans. In fact, there was talk at the time that Bronny could spend some time participating in the Los Angeles team that is linked to the G-League, looking to continue his development and improvement in every aspect on the playing field.
LeBron praises his son for ignoring criticism
LeBron James, understandably, is not very happy with the constant criticism towards Bronny James, especially when many of them seem risqué and sometimes even unfair: “I don’t know if people really understand Bronny. He doesn’t care. I do care a little. When I came [como novato]“I wanted people to like me, and some of the things people said about me bothered me early in my career… He doesn’t give a shit.”
‘King’ James praises son’s behavior, seemingly oblivious to criticism and everything that surrounds him for being who he is and for being totally focused on his improvement and development as a player: “Bronny doesn’t care about anybody. He doesn’t even listen to that stuff. He’s the coolest. He’s the complete opposite of his dad. His dad will say something to respond to criticism. Bro doesn’t care… Everything that’s said about him, he really doesn’t care,” said the Lakers star player.
