The director of the US Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle was summoned for July 22 to testify for the attack on former President Donald Trump during a political rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The summons was issued to Cheatle in a letter signed by James Comer, director of Congressional Oversight and Accountability, who posted the letter on his X account.

Comer never fails to emphasize “the tremendous bravery” of the Secret Service agents those present at the event, who protected Trump, neutralized the aggressor and prevented further damage to the large number of people present (there are only two deaths so far).

However, there have been numerous voices questioning the effectiveness of the Secret Service in failing to prevent an armed sniper from positioning himself, unnoticed by the numerous agents present, on a rooftop that was only 163 yards, or 150 meters, from the podium where the former president was speaking.

At that distance, and with the weapons available on the market in the United States, It is relatively easy to reach a desired targetas several people interviewed this afternoon on television have highlighted.

And given that Trump’s rally had been known about for many weeks and was anything but improvised, it is striking that Secret Service agents did not have time to comb the area in sufficient time to rule out the risks of an attack like the one that took place.
