Unlike the Olympic Games, the World Cup and the Copa America, There is no third-place match at the European Championship.
At least since the 1980 edition, There is no match for third place in the European tournament.
The last third place in the history of the Eurocup was Italy after defeating Czechoslovakia on penalties (9-8).
UEFA decided to remove this match in the face of the lack of interest of the fans who did not like a match in which practically neither of the two teams wanted to compete.
From that edition onwards, it was decided that the two teams that lost in the semi-final would be considered third place and would win the bronze medal.
Although for the 2024 Euro edition, third place is defined by a system of points accumulated through each phase of the tournament.
In the 2024 edition, the Netherlands is the winner of the third place in the tournament. The Dutch national team has accumulated 10 points in the tournament.
A victory against Poland, a goalless draw against France and lost 3-2 to Austria in the group stage. They then won 3-0 against Romania in the round of 16 and earned three more points with the victory over Turkey.
For its part, France remained with 9 points. They added 6 points with victories against Austria and Belgium, plus three draws (in 90 minutes) against Portugal, Poland and the Netherlands.

Heading into their second consecutive final, England still have a bitter taste in their 2021 defeat to Italy on penalties.

Saka started on the bench but came on in the 70th minute. He played from 20 to 90 minutes and the subsequent half hour of extra time before missing England’s final penalty.
